Celebrate Christmas This Year in Nashville's Classic, Traditional Germantown Style

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) November 23, 2009 -- This Christmas holiday, spend an evening celebrating the holiday season in one of Nashville’s most unique and historic neighborhoods. On Saturday, December 5 from 5 to 8pm, this year’s Christmas in Germantown, sponsored by Gary Force Acura and Direct Grower Industries of The Farmers Market, offers a plethora of delightful holiday celebrations in the traditional Germantown Style.

This year guests will have access to six of the Germantown’s area’s most distinctive homes, all festively attired for the holiday season and a special tour of Monroe Street United Methodist Church, one of Germantown’s beautiful historic churches.

The tour begins with spicy German cider from Drinkhaus and special holiday treats. Guests will delight in the sounds of holiday music and familiar carols, regularly provided by residents and friends on any given night in Germantown during the Christmas season.

Not only the buildings are on tour, but the entire neighborhood is a festival of glowing lights as the locals compete in a house decorating contest with a nod to the German custom of displaying fresh greens on every front door.

"There is a warm spirit of hospitality that has long defined this charming historic neighborhood, but during the holiday season the doors of our homes and hearts seem to open wider and say, ‘come share the joy of Germantown, come celebrate Christmas with us’," shares Rich Boyd, President, Historic Germantown Nashville Neighborhood Association.

Transportation via the Germantown Express is provided to the various sites for those who choose not to stroll Germantown’s quaint streets. The Express will include local guides to share unique stories about Germantown’s history--and then some.

And what better way to end the evening than enjoying a scrumptious holiday dinner at The Mad Platter, Germantown’s award-winning restaurant, who is celebrating its 20th year in Germantown.

Cost for the Homes Tour is a mere $10.00 per person for advanced purchases, $15.00 day of tour and dinner at the Mad Platter is $32.00 per person. Tickets may be purchased for the full $42 package or individually at www.historicgermantown.org.
